New Crop Cherries

There is nothing better than fresh cherries right off the tree. I spent a day in Linden California while cherry picking was underway. Harvest is manual hand work with basically no mechanization. The Cherry crop looks great this year in California. Cherries are very finnicky so a good crop year is something to celebrate. Varieties in this orchard include Chelan, Champagne, Bing, Rainer, and Coral - a low water input variety. Most of the fruit from this orchard will go to the fresh market with some of the off grade material used in manufacturing applications.
